Stacked with Muay-Thai talent: What you need to know about ONE 157

On Friday, 20 May, ONE Championship will air yet another exciting event live from the Singapore Indoor Stadium. ONE 157: Petchmorakot vs. Vienot features exciting matches in a multitude of sports – but eight of them will be held under Muay Thai rules.  

Both the ONE Featherweight and Strawweight Muay Thai World Championships will be on the line in the main and co-main events, and four intriguing quarterfinals – as well as two alternate bouts – will take place in the opening round of the ONE Flyweight Muay Thai World Grand Prix.

French striking star Jimmy Vienot is set to debut in The Home of Martial Arts when he challenges ONE Featherweight Muay Thai World Champion Petchmorakot Petchyindee for his strap in the evening's headliner. While Vienot has a host of accolades to his name, including being one of the few non-Thais to win a Lumpinee Stadium World Title, he faces an experienced foe who has defended his ONE gold twice already. 

Just before that ONE World Title tussle goes down, the ONE Strawweight Muay Thai World Championship will be on the line, as Prajanchai PK.Saenchai defends his belt against Joseph “The Hurricance” Lasiri. The Italian-Moroccan challenger has been in blistering form lately, and he's eager for a chance to prove himself against one of the greatest Thai fighters on the ONE roster. 

The first round of the ONE Flyweight Muay Thai World Grand Prix is guaranteed to produce enthralling drama, as eight of the most exciting names in the sport duke it out to try and progress to the semifinals. Meanwhile, two alternate bouts will go down, with the winners waiting in the wings to slide into the Grand Prix should any of the semifinalists pull out.

In addition to Muay Thai action, ONE 157 also features two exciting submission grappling battles as teen Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu phenoms the Ruotolo twins make their debuts. 

Heavyweight mixed martial arts star Marcus “Buchecha” Almeida also returns to action against Hugo Cunha, and Muay Thai standout Nat “Wondergirl” Jaroonsak makes her long-awaited MMA debut against Zeba Bano.
