Leverage Fight Night IX is all set to happen on December 18, 2020, and as we reported earlier, a stacked 16-man bracket has been revealed for the submission only single-elimination grappling tournament.
One of the grapplers competing at the event will be Nihaal Joseph of the Institute of Jiu-Jitsu from Bangalore. Nihaal will be going up against Sadique Qaiyum of Crosstrain Fight Club in the opening bracket with the winner of the matchup facing the winner of Peeyush Pandey vs. Seth Rosario and so on.
Ahead of the showdown, Nihaal sat down with Leverage Radio to talk about the event and noted that he is excited to compete at the tournament.
“My biggest advantage over other fighters at Leverage Fight Night IX is that they don’t know what my game is. I haven’t been in the scene so long that they know exactly what I’m capable of. So I think I kind of have an X-Factor coming into the tournament,” he said.
He also went on to add that Leverage Fight Night could play a crucial role in the development of the sport in India.
“Growing Jiu-Jitsu throw these kinds of tournaments will be essential for the future growth and development of the sport,” he added.
When concluding, he added that he will be using the potential prize money to travel to different gyms to train and improve his game.
