Former UFC fighter Kevin Lee shocked the MMA community when he revealed that he is moving to Eagle Fighting Championship following his release from UFC. The news was first revealed by Khabib Nurmagomedov and was later confirmed by Lee in a press conference held by Eagle FC.
While the star power of Lee is a huge boost for the new promotion backed by Khabib, Lee feels that the team has enough firepower to overtake many existing promotions including Bellator MMA.
“It’s too early to notice. The only thing I can notice is that it has a big upside and a lot of room for growth and a lot of potential… Absolutely they can take over Bellator for the number two spot, absolutely. When the business model continues to do something outside what all these other promotions are doing it has the potential to take over everybody else,” Lee said during his interview with BJPenn.com.

When asked about the difference between Khabib and Dana White as promoters, Lee decided to take the safer route and joked about the two.
“Khabib’s a little shorter and still has some hair, so you can tell he ain’t making that level of money yet,” he said.
Reports are suggesting that Lee will be making his promotional debut at Eagle Fighting Championship against former UFC fighter Diego Sanchez although the official confirmation is yet to come.
