Joshu Pacio retained the ONE Strawweight Title this past weekend at ONE: Revolution with a quick stoppage win over Yosuke Saruta. It was a trilogy fight between the two fighters and though it was expected to be a tough outing for Pacio, he ended up getting a quick win much to the surprise of many.
Speaking after the fight to ONE Championship, Pacio said that he is now interested in a trilogy fight with Yoshitaka Naito.
“What’s next for me? Naito vs. Bokang or Naito vs. Me for a trilogy would be good. It’s good because Naito has been in the division for a long time. He is the number two contender in the division so he deserves it and if not maybe Naito and Bokang will fight and whoever wins will get the title shot,” Pacio said.
Naito and Pacio first fought back in October 2016 and it was Naito that came out on top with a submission win. However, in 2018, Pacio leveled the scores at ONE: Conquest of Heroes and outclassed Naito to secure a decision win and in turn, setting up the trilogy.
He also went on to add that Team Lakay has no Trilogy curse as most people assume.
“A lot of people say that Trilogy fight is a curse to Team Lakay. I don’t believe that, I broke that saying tonight and I want to do it again, if possible, a trilogy with Naito,” he added.
Before closing, Pacio went on to add that he would love to defend the title in front of the fans in the Philippines and is hopeful that things would clear up soon.
“That would be great. I miss fighting in front of my home crowd. Hopefully, the situation will be good and ONE Championship will host an event in the Philippines and I can defend my title there,”
