After a stellar performance against Bokang “Little Giant” Masunyane last month, Jarred “The Monkey God” Brooks has finally earned a shot at Joshua “The Passion” Pacio’s ONE Strawweight World Championship.

The highly anticipated tussle will headline ONE 158: Pacio vs. Brooks on Friday, 3 June, at the Singapore Indoor Stadium.

“The Monkey God” has accumulated a perfect 3-0 record in ONE so far, including a debut submission win over Pacio’s Team Lakay teammate, Lito “Thunder Kid” Adiwang, last year and a dominant unanimous decision victory against Japan’s Hiroba Minowa in January.

The American star is now on a five-fight winning streak and has 19 victories in his career overall. His latest win against top-ranked strawweight contender Masunyane secured his World Title shot – something he's been calling for since he first stepped onto the global stage.

“Joshua Pacio I’m coming for you, man. I swear I’m taking that belt to the United States. I promise you,” Brooks said following his victory over Masunyane.

The 29-year-old fighter is dangerous in all areas. He's a grappling specialist with eight submission wins, including a first-round finish in his last bout, but he also showed that he's got fire in his fists by dominating Minowa in his second outing in the Circle.

While “The Monkey God” is eager to put his skills to the test in a World Championship bout, he would be wise to be wary of Pacio. “The Passion” has eight finishes inside the ONE Circle, and 17 of his 20 career wins have come by way of submission or knockout. He most recently scored a first-round KO of Japanese foe Yosuke Saruta in September 2021.

The Filipino superstar has also defended his strawweight gold three times.

Despite Pacio’s accolades and achievements, Brooks is convinced that he will be the new divisional king, and he has continually voiced this opinion whenever the opportunity arises.

“Joshua Pacio, much love to you baby, but we are coming. I can’t stress enough how much I want that belt, and I want it way more than you. We all have our trials and tribulations, but guess what, nobody is coming for me the way I am coming for you baby,” he said.
