Group ONE Holdings and Media City Qatar Announce New Partnership

ONE Championship’s parent company, Group ONE Holdings (ONE), and Media City Qatar announced their partnership today at the Qatar Economic Forum.

This historic relationship will entail a combined effort toward developing universal content in Qatar across a multitude of media categories, such as studio shows and innovative broadcasting. 

“We are very excited to announce a partnership with Group ONE Holdings which will bring a global content creator to Doha and strengthen Qatar’s media ecosystem. Media City is focusing on enabling innovative, creative media to flourish in Qatar, and this partnership will be strategic in achieving this objective. We expect that this partnership will also create a path for other global IP content creators to consider Qatar as a hub to build their presence,” said Sheikh Ali bin Abdullah bin Khalifa Al-Thani, CEO of Media City Qatar.

Media City Qatar is one of the world's fastest-growing media and creative industries hubs. To assist Qatar in diversifying its economy, Media City aspires to be "a collaborative home for talent, innovation, and achievement, as well as a regional leader in the media industry." 

By accelerating the evolution of regional media, the organization hopes to create a powerful and innovative ecosystem where inspiring content can flourish. 

Group ONE Holdings (ONE) is Asia's largest global sports media platform, broadcasting to over 150 countries worldwide. 

In terms of viewership and engagement, Nielsen ranks it as one of the top ten sports media properties in the world. 

ONE promotes values of integrity, humility, honor, respect, courage, discipline, and compassion through its marquee sports properties (ONE Championship and ONE Esports), and it has a passionate global fan base. 

ONE broadcasts on a variety of outlets as well, including Amazon Prime Video Sports, ELEVEN Sports, Star Sports, and many more. 

The two organizations are in the process of creating live sports programming dedicated to advancing the production quality of events in Qatar. The purpose of their partnership revolves around encouraging elite corporations to come to the country and establish a gifted community of creators.

Media City Qatar and ONE are in talks to create an esports center to attract gaming developers and others, with the goal of utilizing Qatar's massive infrastructure and global support. 

In addition to this, the country of Qatar will feature the second season of Netflix series “The Apprentice: ONE Championship Edition.” 

Hosted by ONE Championship Chairman and CEO Chatri Sityodtong, the show was awarded “Best Non-Scripted Entertainment” and “Best Adaptation of an Existing Format” at the 2021 Asian Academy Creative Awards. 

“This partnership is extremely strategic as it marks our foray into the Middle East, a key market for ONE across all of our content offerings: general entertainment, martial arts, and esports. We are excited to bring ONE closer to all our fans in Qatar and across the Middle East. Media City has big ambitions of establishing Qatar as a global media hub and we are committed to enhancing this vision while building world-class content in Qatar to serve millions of fans around the world,” Sityodtong said.
