Khabib Nurmagomedov might have retired from MMA but he is still an undeniable presence in the MMA community through his roles as a coach and as a promoter.
Khabib’s role as a promoter, in particular, had made headlines lately as Eagle Fighting Championship made their United States debut with a stellar show. The new 165-pound division in the promotion also gained a lot of attention from the martial arts community and recently, ONE Championship chairman Chatri Sityodtong was asked about the same in his Instagram Q and A.
Chatri had high praise for Khabib and noted that the former UFC champion is a true martial artist and a true Muslim.
“Khabib is a good friend - I love what he represents in life - he is a true martial artist and a true Muslim. I respect these things so much about him. @khabib_nurmagomedov,” Chatri wrote in the comments.
Khabib’s teammate Saygid Izagakhmaev had recently made his debut in ONE Championship as well and picked up a dominant win in the fight. Khabib was supposed to corner Saygid at the event but the Russian tested positive for COVID which ruled him out of the same.
