Carla Esparza ready to delay her wedding for Rose Namajunas rematch

UFC president Dana White has announced that Carla Esparza is next in line to fight UFC Strawweight champion Rose Namajunas. Earlier, Namajunas had also mentioned that the rematch with Esparza is what interests her most.

With all the buzz surrounding the title fight making headlines, Esparza has pitched in her take on the situation as well.

“No matter how much in my eyes, and a lot of people’s eyes, I was literally the only fight that made any sense, you just never know with the UFC. They make decisions sometimes that maybe don’t make the most sense. Until I got that confirmation, now it’s real,” Esparza noted in her interview with MMA Fighting.

The title fight is huge for Esparza. So huge that she is ready to put aside her personal plans to prepare for her second outing with Namajunas.

“If it doesn’t, I’m completely willing to change the date of my wedding, and everyone who’s on my wedding list is my friend and they would 100 percent understand. My fiancé, we’re getting married no matter what. We’re going to be together forever, so the date being a couple months later doesn’t change things. This title fight is the priority right now,” she adds.

Namajunas and Esparza first fought back in 2014 and it was Esparza that came out on top. When Namajunas will be looking to get back on terms when they meet again, for Esparza, it will be about dethroning the champion and getting the title.
