6th Kerala State Muay-Thai Championship: Calicut wins overall title at the event

The 6th Kerala State Muay-Thai Championship is in the books. The event was held at the Sree Gokulam Public School in Mankavu, Calicut on 21 November 2021 and saw a participation of 148 members from 11 districts across the state.

The event which was hosted by the Sports Kempo Association of Kerala was inaugurated by Kozhikode District Sports Council President O Rajagopal. A string of exciting fights was on offer in the Under-23 and senior category at the event with the live-action streamed on the Kerala Fight World YouTube channel. Once the fights were completed, Calicut managed to win the overall title in front of their home crowd and was followed by Pathanamthitta district which secured the second position. Ernakulam came in third to complete the top three at the championship.

Kerala State Muay-Thai Association President Binu Joseph expressed his gratitude for the support he received for the event.

“A special thanks to our organizer Mr., Vishnu Drona, and team Kempo, for conducting such a grateful event. And I am so honored to have such a strong and dedicated Juries, Referees, Judges, and officials in my team to make this event successful. I’m also thankful to the entire players and coaches those who participated in this competition with great dedication and sportsmanship,” he noted on his social media channels.

The event will be followed up by the UMAI National Muay-Thai Championship coming up in Manipur in the month of December. The IFMA World Muay-Thai Championship is also set to happen in the month of December in Thailand.
