WDS Pune Results: Edukondal Rao takes main event, Karan Lama wins co-main

Warrior’s Dream Series rolled outs its second edition from Pune on 23 July 2022. The event which happened at Sativ Patil Sports in Pune saw a string of exciting bouts. The main card consisted of eight bouts and happened after the amateur card which saw more than 50 bouts across K1, BJJ and MMA categories.

In the opening bout of the main card, Manipur’s Korouhenba Urungpurel made quick work of Lekraj Bagde in the kid’s super fight. Korua secured the first-round finish via ground and pound and celebrated in style alongside his RMX MMA coach and ONE Championships star Roshan Mainam.

In the bout that followed, Sujit Gund secured a finish against Mazhaar Khan when Raj Madhesiya submitted Anubhav Kashyap. Raj slept Anubhav with his submission and Arun Bhist had a similar finish against Mohammad Dawood Khan.

Sumit Kumar dominated his fight against Arjun Kumar and went home with a first-round Guillotine submission finish. Sumit tagged Arjun multiple times in the first round before securing the finish.

Paalee Sathishwer also produced a dominant performance as he stopped Rahul Sonkamble via ground and pound in the first round.

The most exciting fight of the main card was perhaps delivered by Karan Lama and Suyash Jadhav. Both the fighters gave it their best in the K1 bout which lasted three rounds. Karan, who was returning from a gap had great success with leg kicks which pushed Suyash to the backfoot.

In the end, after action-packed three rounds, Karan took home the unanimous decision victory.

The grudge match in the main event between Edukondal Rao and Ravi Saw ended in favour of Edukondal Rao.
