The much-anticipated fight between India’s Vikas Singh Ruhil and Ireland’s Nathan Kelly went down today at the Bellator Champions Series in Belfast.

The fight did not last long as Nathan Kelly was able to get the finish in the first round itself. The Irishman dropped Vikas with a vicious elbow at the 40-second mark of the first round to get the win. In his post-fight interview, Kelly said that he was planning to land the elbow.

With the fight, Vikas became the first Indian to compete in Bellator MMA after earlier also becoming the first Indian to compete in PFL MMA. The Indian had a hiccup at the weigh-ins when he missed weight and weighed in at 147 pounds for his fight at Featherweight.

He came into the fight on the back of his loss at PFL MMA and before this, he was undefeated in seven fights having secured a spotless run in Matrix Fight Night.

Fighting out of Team Relentless in Mumbai, Maharashtra under coach Jitendra Khare, Vikas had spent some time in the United States as well ahead of his fight.

Nathan Kelly, on the other hand, came into the fight with a professional MMA record of 9-2 and was on a nine-fight winning streak. This was his second outing in Bellator MMA after earlier making his promotional debut at Bellator 275 back in 2022 February.
