UFC Oklahoma Results: Dricus Du Plessis decisions Kamaru Usman

Dricus Du Plessis returned to the win column with a unanimous decision victory over former UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman in the main event of UFC Fight Night on Sunday at the Paycom Center in Oklahoma City.

The sold-out event drew an attendance of 17,173 and produced a gate of $3.18 million, setting a new arena gate record.

Du Plessis controlled much of the five-round contest with crisp striking and damaging head kicks, particularly in the opening rounds. Usman found success with his wrestling midway through the fight, securing a takedown in the third round and building momentum in the fourth. The former champion increased his pace in the final frame, but Du Plessis continued to land the more effective strikes, including several head kicks, to earn scorecards of 50-45, 49-46 and 49-46.

The victory marked an important step for the former UFC middleweight champion as he looks to work his way back into title contention.

In the co-main event, Christian Leroy Duncan earned the biggest win of his UFC career by defeating veteran Jared Cannonier via unanimous decision. Duncan's speed and striking gave him the edge early before Cannonier attempted to slow the fight with clinch work and wrestling. Duncan maintained enough offense over three rounds to secure the judges' nod with scores of 30-27, 30-27 and 29-28.

Elsewhere on the main card, Chase Hooper submitted Mitch Ramirez with a first-round rear-naked choke, Fatima Kline swept all three scorecards against Tabatha Ricci, and Tommy McMillen finished Alberto Montes by third-round TKO.

On the preliminary card, Jose Miguel Delgado, Jean-Paul Lebosnoyani, Ezra Elliott and Alden Coria all picked up decision victories, while Felipe Franco, RJ Harris and Dione Barbosa secured stoppage wins.

Du Plessis and Usman earned Fight of the Night honors. Performance of the Night bonuses went to Felipe Franco and Tommy McMillen, while finish bonuses were awarded to Dione Barbosa and RJ Harris.
