The first UFC event will take place at The Theater at Virgin Hotels Las Vegas, a member of the Curio Collection by Hilton. The main event will feature a high-stakes bantamweight fight between No. 2 contender Petr Yan and No. 3 Merab Dvalishvili. The co-main event, which pits No. 8 heavyweight Alexander Volkov against No. 13 Alexandr Romanov, is sure to be explosive.

Petr Yan vs. Merab Dvalishvili to headline

Yan (16-4, competing out of Omsk, Russia), a former UFC bantamweight champion, intends to make a statement and return to the top spot. Yan, who holds master's degrees in both boxing and mixed martial arts, has won convincingly against Cory Sandhagen, former UFC featherweight champion José Aldo, and Urijah Faber. He now aims to start 2023 off strong by putting a stop to rising rival Dvalishvili.

Dvalishvili (15-4, from Long Island, New York, originally from Tbilisi, Georgia) hopes to win his first UFC main event by taking down a different former champion. Dvalishvili, who holds the record for the most takedowns landed at 135 pounds (50), has triumphed over Cody Stamann, Marlon Moraes, and José Aldo. The native of Georgia is now focused on bolstering Yan's already outstanding résumé and pressing his claim to a crack at the crown.

Volkov to fight Romanov

With another spectacular finish, knockout prodigy Volkov (35-10, competing out of Moscow, Russia) hopes to climb into the top five. He has defeated tough opponents like Jairzinho Rozenstruik, Alistair Overeem, and former UFC heavyweight champion Fabricio Werdum, demonstrating his potential as a dangerous striker. In order to put himself in the running for a championship opportunity, Volkov hopes to add Romanov's name to his lengthy list of stunning knockouts.

Romanov, a rising fighter (16-1, competing out of Comrat, Moldova), enters the Octagon with the goal of securing the greatest victory of his career in a convincing manner. Romanov, a versatile heavyweight, made a statement in the division by defeating Chase Sherman, Jared Vanderaa, and Juan Espino. Now, Romanov wants to make a statement by defeating the leading competitor Volkov to kick off a significant 2023 campaign.
