UFC 311 kicked off 2025 in spectacular fashion Sunday, with lightweight champion Islam Makhachev and bantamweight champion Merab Dvalishvili delivering dominant performances at the Intuit Dome.
In the main event, Makhachev made quick work of late-notice challenger Renato Moicano, securing a first-round submission via D’Arce choke at 4:05. The champion showcased his trademark chain wrestling and clinical precision to retain his title. “No matter who can make 155 pounds, just step to the cage,” Makhachev said post-fight.
Dvalishvili faced his toughest challenge yet, edging out Umar Nurmagomedov in a thrilling five-round battle. The champion broke the UFC record for most career takedowns en route to a unanimous decision victory (48-47, 48-47, 49-46) and expressed pride in his perseverance.
The main card also saw Jiří Procházka defeat Jamahal Hill via third-round TKO, Jailton Almeida secure a first-round TKO against Serghei Spivac, and Reinier de Ridder submit Kevin Holland with a rear-naked choke.
