UFC rolled out UFC 304 today featuring the UFC Welterweight showdown between Leon Edwards and Belal Muhammad.
The main event started with Belal Muhammed landing a takedown on Leon Edwards with just seconds into the fight. For the champion, it was all about regaining the control in the remaining part of the round.
Belal continued to push forward and shot for takedowns at his wish in the second round. Against the flow of the fight, Edwards landed a takedown of his own in the last minute of the round. Edwards got into the driving seat in the third round and got Belal’s back from where he was constantly looking for a submission finish. The fourth round saw Belal taking control in the second half setting up a high stakes fifth round where Belal Muhammad had the upper hand. Edwards cut open Belal by reversing in the last minute of the round but Belal had done enough to get a decision win and become the new champion.
Paddy Pimblett achieved the biggest win of his UFC career Saturday night, defeating King Green with a swift triangle choke.
After spending much of the opening frame exchanging kicks and landing minimal strikes, Green attempted a takedown, which Pimblett countered with a guillotine attempt. Recognizing the guillotine wasn’t effective, Pimblett transitioned to a triangle choke, quickly putting Green to sleep.
Pimblett, known as “Paddy the Baddy,” remains unbeaten in the UFC and is expected to enter the rankings with this impressive victory.
In co-main event of the night, Tom Aspinall successfully defended the interim heavyweight title by defeating Curtis Blaydes. The fight mirrored Aspinall’s previous clash with Sergei Pavlovich, as Blaydes showcased his power early on, but Aspinall responded with a precise short left hand. Aspinall then delivered a series of follow-up blows, leading to a stoppage.
Aspinall continues to solidify his status as a top heavyweight in the UFC, having avenged his only loss in the promotion and consistently delivering knockout performances. Checkout the complete results from the event below.
