Deiveson Figueiredo's transition to the bantamweight division is proving to be a masterstroke as he secured yet another impressive victory, making it 2-0 since his move up from flyweight in December. Figueiredo (23-3-1 MMA, 12-3-1 UFC) showcased his dominance in the octagon by submitting Cody Garbrandt (14-6 MMA, 9-6 UFC) in a thrilling clash at UFC 300 held at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

Despite facing early adversity in Round 1, where Garbrandt managed to land some significant strikes, Figueiredo displayed his resilience. He bounced back emphatically in the second round, asserting control over the bout. Utilizing his grappling prowess, Figueiredo executed a takedown, transitioning smoothly from an arm-triangle choke threat to securing a rear-naked choke, forcing the referee to halt the contest at the 4:02 mark of Round 2.

Post-match, Figueiredo wasted no time in staking his claim for the next title shot in the bantamweight division, highlighting his championship aspirations.

This victory marks Figueiredo's second consecutive win since relinquishing the flyweight title to Brandon Moreno in January 2023. The 36-year-old fighter had previously defeated seasoned contender Rob Font in his debut bantamweight bout last December.

Meanwhile, Cody Garbrandt's hopes were dashed as his two-fight winning streak came to an abrupt halt. Despite his recent victories over Brian Kelleher and Trevin Jones, the former bantamweight champion's record stands at 3-6 since his memorable title triumph over Dominick Cruz in 2016.
