UFC 289: NUNES vs. ALDANA electrified the crowd as the co-main and main events delivered unforgettable moments. Charles Oliveira found redemption, while Amanda Nunes solidified her status as the greatest of all time.

In a display of sheer dominance, Amanda Nunes, the unrivalled champion of women's pound-for-pound, featherweight, and bantamweight divisions, faced off against the formidable No. 5 ranked contender, Irene Aldana. Despite Aldana's unwavering resilience, Nunes effortlessly controlled the fight, employing her takedowns with precision and inflicting relentless damage through her striking. As the bout reached its conclusion after a grueling five rounds, Nunes was unanimously declared the winner. However, the shocking twist came when Nunes announced her retirement from the sport, solidifying her place in history as a legend.

"Double champ forever! Tonight is the perfect night to retire. My mom has been asking me to do this for so long. I decided right now that I'm still young enough to enjoy everything that I made. I'm from a small city in Brazil, and I made it all the way here, to become a champion,” Nunes said after the fight.

Meanwhile, former UFC lightweight champion Charles Oliveira, once again considered the underdog, stepped into the octagon to face the highly skilled Beneil Dariush. Initially attempting to showcase his grappling prowess, Oliveira reverted to his striking skills, which proved to be his ultimate strength.

Unleashing a magnificent combination of a head kick followed by successive right hands, Oliveira sent Dariush crashing to the canvas, sealing the victory via TKO in the first round. This impressive win reignited Oliveira's pursuit of a championship title, rejuvenating his aspirations.

"The champion's name is Charles Oliveira! I needed to send a message. Last time you saw 10% of me. This time you saw 120% of me. Dana, I'm ready. This hand is heavy and I'm always ready. I don't care what people say. I know what I can do and that what I'm going to keep doing,” Oliveira said.

The co-main and main events of UFC 289 left fans on an emotional high, with Charles Oliveira's redemption and Amanda Nunes' retirement announcement solidifying her legacy as the greatest fighter of all time.
