ONE Championship has reportedly signed undefeated Dagestan fighter Shamil Gasanov. Combat Press first reported the news and Shamil later shared the news and updated his Instagram bio to confirm the same.
The 26-year-old primarily competes in the Featherweight division and holds a professional MMA record of 12-0 to his name. He started his professional MMA career in 2014 and has been competing across multiple promotions for the past years.
He also captured the Featherweight title in Pro FC MMA and is a BJJ World Champion. Interestingly, two of his fights have gone to the decision with Shamil getting the win via submission or stoppage in all of his other fights.
The Russian last fought back on March 2022 against Akhmed Balkizov in Pro FC 70 and had secured a guillotine submission victory. Apart from ProFC, he has also fought in Legion Fight, Fight Club Zeus, A-Fight MMA and BFC promotions.
As per Combat Press, Shamil is expected to make his ONE Championship debut at ONE on Prime Video 2 when he fights Kim Jae Woong. ONE on Prime Video II will be headlined by the trilogy bout between Angela Lee and Xiong Jing Nan.
Kim is a veteran of ONE Championship and holds a record of 12-5 to his name. He had suffered a loss to Kai Tang in his last bout at ONE X but holds wins over Martin Nguyen and Tetsuya Yamada in the promotion. The South Korean fighter is 3-2 in ONE Championship and fought in promotions like Top FC, Gladiator, Vale Tudo Japan among others during his run.
Earlier, ONE Championship had also signed Saygid Izagakhmaev who made an impressive ONE Championship debut against James Nakashima.
