Rodtang Itching For ONE 172 Main Event Showdown Against Takeru On March 23

Rodtang Jitmuangnon is just days away from his five-round flyweight kickboxing super-fight against Takeru Segawa at ONE 172 on Sunday, March 23.

To say that “The Iron Man” is chomping at the bit may be an understatement. After years of chatter and false starts, the flyweight superstar is ready for the bell to finally ring.

“I’m sick of repeated press conferences. After this, I have to attend press conferences and face-offs. Now I can't wait to face Takeru,” Rodtang told ONE Championship.

“Takeru is a true Japanese superstar. He has a unique kickboxing style. This guy has dangerous weapons. He's also very fast and has a lot of unorthodox moves.

“It's hard for me to predict Takeru's kicks. But we tried to study his fight videos. What kind of setting up does he do before going to kick? Does he surprise his opponent first or set the range to allow him to throw that weapon?”

While Rodtang is gunning for the knockout, he is not being bold with a prediction that it will happen at any specific point in the match.

He knows the Japanese star’s elite skill set will pose problems, and as such he is ready for five rounds of all-out war.

“When you interview Takeru or me or anyone, they will say they will do their best. But I think we will find the answer in the ring. I want everyone to wait and stay tuned,” Rodtang said.

When one of the biggest events in martial arts history concludes, Rodtang hopes that his hand is raised high inside Saitama Super Arena.

If that happens to be the case, the attention will immediately turn to a rematch against the pound-for-pound king, Superlek Kiatmoo9, for all the kickboxing marbles.

“Of course, both me and Takeru or everyone else in this division have our sights set on kickboxing gold. If I win this fight, I want to get a shot at the gold with Superlek,” the Thai star said.
