Indian MMA Fighter Priya Sharma to Compete at Road to UFC Event in China

Indian MMA fighter Priya Sharma is gearing up for a significant milestone in her career as she prepares to compete at the Road to UFC event in China this May.

Sharma, hailing from Punjab, announced the news through her Instagram account, expressing her excitement with the caption, "Contract signed 18 May here I come.Dreams do come true if you work long enough to make them a reality with dedication and hard work."

Sharma's journey from being a spectator of the UFC to participating in the Road to UFC event in China has been remarkable. She began her MMA journey with the Super Fight League Challengers MMA reality show and has since become a prominent figure in the Indian combat sports circuit.

Despite taking a break from MMA at one point, Sharma has remained focused on the sport, dedicating herself full-time for many years. With a commendable record of 5-1, Sharma has proven her mettle in the octagon. Notably, she was the first Indian to be selected to the Fairtex Fight team, training alongside renowned names like Stamp Fairtex. Her time with the Fairtex Fight team saw her compete across Muay Thai and MMA fights in Thailand before returning to India to showcase her skills at Matrix Fight Night where she secured a win over Jojo Rajakumari at MFN 10.

In a bid to further enhance her training and skills, Sharma ventured to Brazil to train with UFC star Amanda Ribas and her team. Her dedication paid off as she secured a victory at the SFT Combat Event, setting the stage for her upcoming appearance at the Road to UFC event in China.

Sharma's participation in the Road to UFC event adds her name to the list of Indian fighters who have graced this platform before. Notably, in the first season, Pawan Maan and Anshul Jubli represented the nation, with Anshul emerging victorious in the Lightweight Tournament and earning a UFC contract. In the second season, Sumit Kumar and Rana Singh proudly represented India, further solidifying the country's presence in the global MMA scene.
