PFL Europe Season Commences with Spectacular Night of Action in Paris

The 2024 PFL Europe season got off to a thrilling start with an unforgettable evening of fights at the Accor Arena in Paris, witnessed by a capacity crowd.

The headline bout featured a highly anticipated French clash between Cédric "The Best" Doumbé and Baissangour “Baki” Chamsoudinov, culminating in a dramatic third-round stoppage by referee Marc Goddard at 1:21. Despite both fighters showcasing their skills in the opening rounds, Doumbé emerged victorious, sparking talks of a potential rematch between the two competitors.

In the co-main event, Abdoul Abdouraguimov displayed his exceptional grappling prowess against a formidable Jack Grant, securing a split decision win after an intense 15-minute battle. The victory marked Abdouraguimov's third triumph under the PFL banner.

The welterweight division saw Florim Zendeli advance with a first-round submission victory, setting the stage for future matchups to be decided at the upcoming PFL Europe event in Newcastle on June 8.

Elsewhere, Daniele Miceli secured his Playoff spot with a second consecutive submission finish, while Ibrahima Mane claimed a hard-fought split decision victory over Chequina Noso Pedro.

In the lightweight division, the PFL Europe Regular Season witnessed several early stoppages. Daniele Scatizzi, a Bellator veteran, wasted no time in securing his advancement with a victory in under two minutes, while Connor Hughes delivered a knockout just 73 seconds into his matchup.

Further action saw 2023 PFL Europe Champion Jakub Kaszuba maintain his unbeaten record with a unanimous decision win over Bellator veteran Kane Mousah, while Spain’s Ignacio Capella secured a Playoff spot with a well-timed uppercut stoppage.

Looking ahead, Kaszuba is set to face SBG Ireland’s Scatizzi in the 2024 Playoffs, while Hughes will square off against Capella with the opportunity to compete for the 2024 PFL Europe Lightweight Championship on the line.
