In a surprising turn of events, Indian boxer Neeraj Goyat, known for his viral social media campaign targeting Jake Paul, has officially joined forces with the YouTuber-turned-boxer's promotional company, Most Valuable Promotions (MVP).
Officials revealed to ESPN on Friday that Paul's company has signed Goyat, a former WBC Asian welterweight champion and the first Indian fighter to make the WBC world rankings. With nearly 1 million followers on Instagram and a notable presence in Indian television and Bollywood films, Goyat brings both talent and reach to the table.
Expressing his excitement about the collaboration, Goyat stated, "I'm truly honored to be the newest member of the Most Valuable Promotions family. MVP has been making waves in the boxing world, particularly with its commitment to showcasing and uplifting women in the sport since 2021."
Goyat's debut for MVP is anticipated to take place this summer, marking a significant milestone as MVP's first international signee. Co-founder Nakisa Bidarian emphasized Goyat's potential impact, stating, "His viral callouts of Jake Paul certainly got our attention, and we're honored to welcome Neeraj into our family of exceptional athletes."
Bidarian highlighted the underappreciated influence of Indian fighters and boxing fans on the global stage, expressing eagerness to shine a spotlight on one of India's premier boxers.
Having been a professional boxer since 2011, Goyat boasts an impressive record of 18 wins, 4 losses, and 8 knockouts. He has won nine of his last ten fights, with his only defeat against Jose Zepeda in March 2023.
