Former UFC featherweight champion, Max Holloway, is gearing up for a pivotal move into the UFC's lightweight division, demonstrating his unwavering determination to establish his legacy in multiple weight classes. The Hawaiian fighter, affectionately known as 'Blessed,' is set to face off against the current UFC 'BMF' champion, Justin Gaethje, in a highly anticipated showdown at the prestigious UFC 300 event.
In a recent YouTube video interview with Yahoo Sports journalist Kevin Iole, Holloway reflected on his past ventures into the lightweight division and addressed the missed opportunity to compete against the renowned Khabib Nurmagomedov at UFC 223. Despite encountering challenges, including a grueling weight-cut process that led to medical intervention, Holloway expressed no regrets, attributing his belief in destiny.
During the interview, Holloway also unveiled one of his primary future aspirations. Despite being unable to vie for the UFC lightweight title at UFC 223, he remains steadfast in his pursuit of championship glory in the division. Holloway emphasized his conviction that everything happens for a reason, highlighting his upcoming bout with Gaethje as a stepping stone towards his ultimate goal.
"I believe things happen for a reason. If I can get my hand raised [against Gaethje], there are a lot of fights that I can be in, one of them being the 55 champ [UFC lightweight champ], which I think will be a fun one. So, I ain't got no regrets," Holloway stated, underlining his resolute mindset and determination to seize future opportunities.
