Mark Sangiao might be busy leading Team Lakay but he has been keeping a close eye on what is happening in the ONE Championship. The ONE Flyweight Muay Thai Grand Prix in particular is something that has captured the attention of many. Mark Sangiao is no different.

He was recently asked about the ongoing Grand Prix and Sangiao explained why Grand Prix hosts some of the best talents that the division has to offer.

“It’s the Grand Prix so it means the cream of the crop and when we say this, it only means sensational! Can’t wait how this will go. Wushu does not have that elbow and knee, unlike Muay Thai. Muay Thai displays the complete art of striking and this fact alone makes the GP Tournament extra appealing,” he said (h/t Powcast)

Rodtang, Savvas Michael, Walter Goncalves and Superlek are the four fighters heading into the semi-finals next and the fight between Jonathan Haggerty and Amir Naseri will serve as an alternative for the tournament as well.

Haggerty was initially part of the bracket but he was forced to withdraw from his scheduled fight due to health issues which made him compete in the alternate fight instead.

The Team Lakay Chief noted that he will be leaning towards Rodtang and Haggerty if he was to give predictions.

“I’ll readily say Rodtang or Haggerty but again, I can be totally wrong. To be honest and fair, I have not seen the others in actual war so I really can’t say,” he added.

Interestingly, Team Lakay star and Former ONE Championship World Champion Eduard Folayang successfully transitioned into Muay Thai at ONE X which has opened the doors for more Team Lakay stars to explore the discipline.
