Former UFC Champion Khabib Nurmagomedov detailed his decision to retire once again and noted that his whole family wanted him to leave the sport. Speaking to the reporters recently, Khabib noted that he did not retire because he was not out of shape.

Instead, he took the decision to retire as his whole family wanted him to retire from the sport after the death of his father.

He also went on to note that he is still in his prime age and claimed that he could regain his top fighting shape within just 6 months. You can see what he said below.

“It seems like a lot of people forget the real reason why I retired. Let me take you back then, I quit MMA when I was 32. It is a fighters’ prime. At least until 34 you can fight on the highest level. I’m not even 34 yet. You must have forgotten why I retired right? Not because I got out of shape.

My father…I talked to my mother, my whole family wanted me to leave the sport because my father left us. It had nothing to do with me not being able to compete against the elite. I train everyday, I wrestle every day.

Even now I could regain my top fighting shape within 6 months. But it is not going to happen. It is all water under the bridge. We have new projects, we have new people to promote. Inshallah, we are going to have new champions. I just had my time when I was a fighter and I was the champion. And that time came to an end and I entered a new chapter of my life,” Khabib noted.
