Fans were treated to the return of rising Japanese mixed martial artist Itsuki Hirata on the lead card of ONE on Prime Video 1. Hirata returned determined to defeat the perilous Chinese adversary Lin Heqin after suffering her first defeat inside the Circle at ONE X in March.
Hirata and Lin engaged in a high-stakes fight as both women sought to enter the atomweight world title discussion.
Heqin immediately began attacking Hirata's lead leg in the first round. In the first few minutes, the Chinese star performed an excellent job of setting up the jab and using leg kicks, while Hirata chose to stand in the pocket with minimal offensive.
The fight progressed with time and Hirata attempted the takedown a little bit early in the third and final round than in the first two. Hirata was unable to successfully finish a takedown while backing up Heqin to the fence. She delivered a terrific sweep while holding Heqin in a headlock, but once more, Heqin was able to immediately bounce back up and return to the centre of the Circle.
When time ran out, Hirata smacked Heqin with a powerful right that knocked the Chinese fighter to the ground. 'Android 18' leaped on Heqin and pummelling her until the bell rang. Itsuki Hirata won a tough fight at ONE on Prime Video 1 by decision after two close finishes in the span of 15 minutes.
Itsuki Hirata returned to the winning column thanks to his effort, moving him one step closer to a chance at the world championship.
But the win did not come without any pain. After the fight, Hirata posted a video which showed her battle wounds from the showdown. Her leg was visibly compromised as you can see below.
