India Wins 11 Medals at World Boxing Cup Kazakhstan 2025;Women Boxers won 3 Gold

India wrapped up a strong campaign at the World Boxing Cup Kazakhstan 2025 with a total of 11 medals, including three golds, five silvers, and three bronzes, as the tournament concluded Sunday in Astana.Leading the charge were Olympian Jaismine Lamboria (57kg), Sakshi (54kg) and Nupur (80+kg), who clinched gold in their respective weight classes and headlined India’s standout performance.Two-time youth world champion Sakshi opened India’s gold medal tally with a dominant unanimous decision victory over Yoseline Perez of the USA in the women’s 54kg final.

Jaismine Lamboria, who represented India at the Paris 2024 Olympics, defeated Brazil’s Jucielen Romeu, a two-time Olympian, with a 4-1 decision in the 57kg final. Lamboria used her reach effectively in the final round to pull ahead after a tightly contested start.Nupur delivered a commanding 5-0 victory over Kazakhstan’s Yeldana Talipova in the women’s 80+kg category to claim India’s third gold medal.India also came close to additional gold, with Meenakshi (48kg) narrowly losing 3-2 to Kazakhstan’s Nazym Kyzaibay, an Olympic bronze medallist.

Among the silver medalists were Jugnoo (men’s 85kg), Olympian Pooja Rani (women’s 80kg), Hitesh Gulia (men’s 70kg) and Abhinash Jamwal (men’s 65kg), all of whom fell short in their respective finals. Jugnoo and Pooja both lost by unanimous 5-0 decisions to Bekzad Nurdauletov of Kazakhstan and Eseta Flint of Australia, respectively. Hitesh was defeated 5-0 by Brazil’s Kaian Oliveira, while Jamwal dropped a 3-2 split decision to Yuri Falcao.India’s bronze medalists included Sanju (women’s 60kg), Nikhil Dubey (men’s 75kg), and Narender Berwal (men’s 90+kg), who all reached the semifinals. This marked a significant improvement for the Indian boxing contingent, which had secured six medals in the previous World Boxing Cup leg in Brazil this past April. Indian women did not compete in Brazil due to the national championships.

More than 400 boxers from 31 countries competed in the Kazakhstan leg of the World Boxing Cup, which serves as a ranking event. Boxers earn points at each stage to qualify for the World Boxing Cup Finals, scheduled to be held in New Delhi, India, in November. India fielded a 20-member team in Astana.
