Indian MMA star Chungreng Koren secured a huge victory at Road To UFC Season 5 after defeating Japan’s Ryuho Miyaguchi via second-round rear-naked choke at Galaxy Arena in Macau.
Koren advanced to the semi-finals of the prestigious UFC talent development tournament following a dominant grappling performance that saw him overwhelm Miyaguchi with relentless pressure, powerful slams, and heavy ground-and-pound before securing the finish in the fourth minute of the second round.
With the victory, Koren moves one step closer to potentially earning a UFC contract through Road To UFC, the UFC’s official win-and-advance tournament featuring top MMA prospects from across the Asia-Pacific region.
The opening round of Road To UFC Season 5 is taking place across May 28 and 29 at Galaxy Arena in Macau, with each event also featuring official UFC bouts.
Koren’s victory marks another major moment for Indian MMA on the international stage as the country continues to produce fighters capable of competing against elite Asian talent.
