The stage is set for the historic return of BRAVE Combat Federation to Pakistan as fighters successfully weighed in ahead of BRAVE CF 85, scheduled for August 18 in Lahore. This event marks the promotion's second in the country and is poised to be the largest MMA event in South Asia to date.
Indian fighters Srikant Sekhar and Bharat Khandare, who crossed the border and arrived in Lahore two days before the show, made weight despite the challenging journey. Sekhar (70.8 kg) and Khandare (61.4 kg) are set to face Pakistani stars Rizwan Ali (70.8 kg) and Zia Mashwani (61.5 kg), respectively.
In the main event, both Omar Solomanov and Rauan Bekbolat made weight for their Featherweight title eliminator. Solomanov weighed in at 66 kg on his second attempt, while Bekbolat registered 66.2 kg on his first attempt.
African MMA standout Eliezer Kubanza successfully made the Super Welterweight limit, coming in at 79.3 kg on his first attempt. His opponent, Salamat Orozakunov, a promotional newcomer, needed two attempts to make weight, eventually registering 79.7 kg.
Pakistani fighters Abbas Khan, Ismail Khan, and Aqib Awan also made weight for their respective bouts. Aqib Awan required a second attempt to reach the Flyweight limit, cutting down from 57.4 kg to 57.2 kg for his fight against Marwin Quirante, who comfortably made weight at 55.9 kg on his first attempt.
However, Mojtaba Nasiri, scheduled to face Yuki Angdembe, the first Nepalese fighter in BRAVE CF, missed weight. Nasiri weighed 62 kg on both attempts, exceeding the 61.7 kg Bantamweight limit. As a result, he will forfeit a percentage of his purse to Angdembe, who made weight at 61.3 kg.
A similar situation arose with Muhammad Idrisov, who missed weight by 100 grams for his Bantamweight bout against Lasha Abramishvili. However, Abramishvili agreed to the fight without taking a percentage of Idrisov's purse.
BRAVE CF 85, part of BRAVE International Combat Week, features a stacked fight card, promising to be a historic moment for MMA in South Asia.
