Former UFC champion Conor McGregor is all set to make his motion picture acting debut. The Irishman will be seen in a leading role alongside academy award nominee Jake Gyllenhall.
Conor McGregor will co-star with Jake Gyllenhaal in the upcoming Road House remake on Prime Video. He joins a cast that already includes Bob Menery, Dominique Columbus, Beau Knapp, Billy Magnussen, Daniela Melchior, Gbemisola Ikumelo, Lukas Gage, and Hannah Love Lanier, and B.K. Cannon.
Gyllenhaal plays a former UFC fighter who accepts a job as a bouncer at a rough-and-tumble roadhouse in the Florida Keys but quickly learns that not everything in this idyllic tropical paradise is as it seems. Sources made it apparent that McGregor would not be playing himself in the movie; nevertheless, the specifics of who he will be playing are unknown.
The Dominican Republic will serve as the location for this month's start of production for the Amazon Original Movie, which will debut on Prime Video in more than 240 nations and regions when it is released.
“Conor McGregor is very excited to expand his storied career to Hollywood and join with Jake Gyllenhaal in this reimagining of "Road House", a beloved classic. While fighting remains his top focus, this is the beginning of another successful venture in the McGregor empire. He is eager to get started filming,” noted Karen J. Kessler, Spokesperson for Conor McGregor as per Ariel Helwani.
The UFC superstar has been courted by Hollywood for some time, but McGregor wasn't interested in rushing into anything and wanted his debut movie to be the proper fit.
According to reports, he viewed the movie for the first time when he heard there was interest in having him join Road House, and after appreciating the first one, he was willing to meet to discuss how he would appear in the next movie.
