Brian Ortega feels that he gave Alexander Volkanovski a better fight than Islam Makhachev.

Ortega talked about the same in a recent interview with BT Sport.

“I think I even tweeted it I was watching the car and I go damn. I shared the octagon with both men and I know what it feels like to be in there with them grabbing them hitting them getting hit by them right and. I saw the Islam fight and I'm like I gave him more of a run than you know than Islam so that that felt as a fight or something good right,” Ortega said in the interview.

Ortega had gone up against Volkanovski at UFC 266.

At UFC 266, Brian Ortega appeared to be on the verge of winning the featherweight championship. Twice in the third round of the title fight, "T-City" appeared to be seconds away from winning.

The 31-year-old appeared to lock in a flawless guillotine choke on Alexander Volkanovski during the third frame. To the American's dismay, 'The Great' managed to escape the submission, seize upper hand, and begin ratcheting up punches on Ortega.

Then, "T-City" displayed his superior grappling skills once more by trapping the Australian in a triangle choke. After the champion pulled off another amazing escape from the submit attempt, the fight once again escaped Ortega's grasp.

Even though Brian Ortega had his moments in the battle, Volkanovski ultimately won the fight by unanimous decision. Even one of the three judges gave the Australian an overwhelming 50–44 victory in the competition.
