BRAVE CF 89 delivered an unforgettable event, marking the first-ever MMA World Title fight on Spanish soil. Hosted in partnership with Fight2One at Pabellon Santiago Martin in Tenerife, Spain, the night featured thrilling fights, dramatic finishes, and a historic title change.
Main Event: Luiz Cado Claims Super Welterweight Title
The main event saw Kamal Magomedov defend his Super Welterweight title against Brazil’s Luiz Cado. The fight ended in controversy as Magomedov was disqualified in the second round for illegal strikes to the back of Cado's head. Despite a strong start by Cado, who dominated the first round with his striking and leg kicks, the illegal strikes caused the referee to stop the fight. This victory made Cado the sixth Brazilian champion in BRAVE CF history and handed Magomedov the first loss of his MMA career.
Co-Main Event: Richie Smullen Shocks with Quick Submission
In the co-main event, Richie Smullen stunned the crowd by submitting Spanish veteran Jose Sanchez in just 29 seconds. Smullen locked in a guillotine choke during the opening exchange, securing the fastest finish of the night. The win extended his impressive streak to four consecutive victories.
Other Highlights: Standout Performances and Drama
Former Kickboxing World Champion Ilias Bulaid showcased his striking prowess by defeating Anthony Riggio via TKO in the first round. Using a combination of elbows, knees, and leg kicks, Bulaid maintained his unbeaten MMA record.
Anuar Bensayiid and Sino Sabzaliev delivered an action-packed fight that could be a "Fight of the Year" contender. Bensayiid’s relentless leg kicks and sharp elbows proved decisive, earning him a third-round TKO victory.
Andrea Meneses Garcia broke her two-fight losing streak with a dominant performance against Adriana Fusini. After dropping Fusini with strikes, Garcia secured a rear-naked choke in the second round to claim the biggest win of her career.
Gerard Burns continued his dominance in BRAVE CF with a unanimous decision victory over Santiago Paiva. Despite early submission threats, Burns controlled the fight and called out Muhammad Mokaev for his next challenge.
Local fighter Oscar Mendez started the night strong for Spain, earning a dominant decision win over Tony Sipos. Mendez’s grappling neutralized the submission specialist, giving him his third consecutive victory.
