BRAVE CF Bantamweight champion Nkosi Ndebele is gearing up for his inaugural title defense at BRAVE CF 82 in Mauritius on May 11, where he'll face his longtime rival Jose ‘Shorty’ Torres in a historic trilogy bout. Nkosi is fully prepared for this showdown.
Nkosi initiated his training camp at SOMA Fight Club in Indonesia well before the fight was announced, honing his skills alongside a talented roster, including Eliezer Kubanza, who will also compete at BRAVE CF 82.
Starting his professional MMA journey with BRAVE CF in 2018, Nkosi has amassed a record of seven wins and two losses, all within the global MMA organization.
Reflecting on his evolution in a recent Instagram video from SOMA Fight Club, Nkosi emphasized his growth and hunger as a fighter over the years.
“Nkosi now is seven times more than Nkosi in the first fight. Over the years, I have developed the hunger for it, I’ve enjoyed it more, you know. And now, the goal is even bigger and the improvement is even more. So, the only thing that I can say the difference is, the Nkosi now who is the champion, is seven times more than the first Nkosi, but the hunger is still the same,” Nkosi said.
The upcoming fight with Jose Torres holds personal significance for Nkosi, as this rivalry has been integral to shaping his career over nearly two years.
Following his victory over Torres at BRAVE CF 80 with a third-round finish, Nkosi is determined to take it further in the trilogy bout, aiming to decisively defeat Torres and put an end to the rivalry.
“I am gonna hurt Shorty. I am gonna destroy him. Honestly, I know it is one thing but when I see or when I think about the match, I am gonna hurt Shorty and I am going to finish him, spectacularly. I am excited, man. That is all I can say. I am really excited,” Nkosi added.
Alongside the main event featuring Nkosi Ndebele and Jose Torres, BRAVE CF 82 promises an array of thrilling matchups showcasing talent from Africa and beyond. The co-main event highlights Nicholas Hwende versus Khurshed Nazarov, a pivotal fight that could determine the next contender for the Bantamweight title.
