Bharat Khandare, a trailblazer in Indian MMA, is making a high-profile return to the sport after a seven-year hiatus. Khandare will face Zia Mashwani at BRAVE CF 85 in Lahore, Pakistan, on August 18.
Khandare, who first gained prominence in MMA with a series of impressive wins starting in 2009, had built a reputation as one of India’s top fighters. Between 2012 and 2016, he amassed a six-fight winning streak, all by finish, and drew international attention with a knockout victory in Japan. His achievements included capturing a regional MMA title and making his mark on the global stage.
However, Khandare stepped away from the sport due to personal challenges, including financial issues and the need to care for his ailing mother. He fought just once more before his break, which began after his debut with BRAVE CF at BRAVE CF 5, held in India.
Now, Khandare is set to relaunch his career on one of the biggest stages in South Asia. BRAVE CF 85 offers him a prime opportunity to prove himself to a new generation of MMA fans in India and to make a statement by competing in Pakistan.
Khandare's comeback fight against Mashwani will be a test of his skills and resolve. A victory in this high-stakes match could cement his legacy as one of the most notable figures in Indian MMA history.
BRAVE CF 85 will be held in Lahore and is the fifth event of the year for BRAVE Combat Federation. The card will also feature a co-main event showcasing the India-Pakistan rivalry, with Srikant Sekhar set to face Rizwan Ali.
