Indian MMA star Bhabajeet Choudhury fought for the Fierce Fighting Championship Welterweight title against Carson Hardman at Fierce Fighting Championship 23 event which happened on 20 January 2023 at the Maverik Center in Utah, USA.

Bhabajeet, who returned to action after a long gap, produced a strong performance in the opening round of the fight and had the reigning champion Hardman cornered with his impressive striking. However, the Indian suffered a broken forearm towards the end of the first round which derailed his momentum.

In the opening seconds of the second round, Hardman managed to capitalize on the injury and stopped the Indian fighter with punches. With the win, Hardman retained the title and improved his professional MMA record to 12-3.

Bhabajeet, on the other hand, dropped to 8-5 in his career and subsequently underwent surgery on 26 January 2023 for his broken forearm.

The Indian also posted a statement following his surgery which you can see below.

A victory makes you happy but your defeat becomes a lesson. It was not easy to train in -5 to -10 °C temperature and fight in a 6000 ft elevation. But a fighter cannot afford excuses. I gave more than 100% during training camp and had a game plan to finish the fight in the second round.

I had a very good start by completely dominating the fight from the very beginning, but unfortunately my wrist and forearm broke within 3 minutes of the first round when I threw a back fist to the opponent’s head and I instantly realized I could not lift my right arm. But I didn’t give up and went in for the second round as well. Injuries are part and parcel of a sport especially one like MMA, but the most important part is our indomitable will. I am not done yet and I will be back, watch me!

I want to thank Lord Shiva and Hanuman for giving me strength and courage for the fight. I also want to say thank you to coach Nick and manager Roman for the training and opportunity.Thank you to my family, friends and every member from my extended Bidang family for pushing me every single day and putting their trust on me.

A big shoutout to the coaches and training partners of @provinggroundsjiujitsu ,@warriorscovemma and @bodhxfit . Cheers."
