The much-awaited showdown between Aung La N Sang and Gilberto Galavo happened today at ONE Fight Night 6.
Aung La was on top gear from the opening bell itself. Galvao, however, tried to use the cage against Aung La only to see the Burmese Python finish the fight on the ground via ground and pound within seconds of the same giving another first round finish for Aung La. This was the second straight first round finish for Aung La.
Aung La, who has been vocal about his intentions to get another title shot, came into the fight following his win over Yushin Okami back in November 2022. Aung La had stopped the Japanese Icon in the first round. Prior to this, the Burmese Python had suffered a loss to Vitaly Bigdash.
A former two-division champion in ONE Championship, Aung La dropped both his Middleweight and Light Heavyweight titles to Reinier De Ridder sometime back. He has been in pursuit of the Middleweight title ever since.
Galvao, on the other hand, came into the fight on the back of a long four-year break. His last fight happened back in 2019 against Reinier De Ridder which he lost due to a second-round TKO. Prior to this, Galvao was 2-1 in ONE Championship with wins over Jake Butler and Tatsuya Mizuno and a loss against Marcin Parchnio.
