Asu Almabaev is one of the flames heating the waters of the BRAVE CF Flyweight stable, where something fantastic is brewing. When he faces the highly-touted Zach Makovsky from the USA in what may be the Number One Contender bout at BRAVE CF 60 on Saturday, July 30th, Kazakhstan's Almabaev is a part of one of the biggest Flyweight match-ups in the world.
One of Kazakhstan's best exporters, Almabaev (15-2) is rapidly enhancing the fighting nation's resume. The 28-year-old Kazakh, who is widely regarded as the best Flyweight in Kazakhstan and Central Asia, has only suffered two professional defeats in 2017, and he has subsequently gone on an eleven-fight winning streak.
After winning the 2021 BRAVE CF Submission of the Year and Breakout Fighter of the Year honours, "Zulfiqar" became the first athlete to win two trophies in the same edition. Almabaev is being hailed as the next great thing and perhaps the future of the BRAVE CF Flyweight division due to his unblemished record in the cage thus far.
When Russia's Velimurad Alkhasov (8-1) faces fellow countryman Ali Bagautinov (21-7) in the Flyweight Tournament final, it will be determined that Almabaev will be the next in line to face the first-ever BRAVE CF Flyweight champion.
The 39-year-old Makovsky has had to deal with the disappointment of defeating Alkhasov then falling short by split decision to the same opponent in a contest he felt he should have won. Alkhasov eventually made it to the BRAVE CF Flyweight championship finals, where the inaugural BRAVE CF Flyweight champion will be crowned.
Makovsky won't need any additional inspiration to debunk Almabaev's hype after learning that he is being hailed as the organization's rising star. A victory at BRAVE CF 60 will also move Makovsky one step closer to his long-sought rematch with Alkhasov.
This fight will serve as a true litmus test for Kazakh and determine whether the Almabaev hype train is genuine due to Makovsky's desire to atone for his wrongdoings and the fact that this will be Almabaev's third appearance in the BRAVE CF cage.
This Saturday, July 30th, the promotion's headquarters in the Kingdom of Bahrain will host BRAVE CF 60. To learn more, go to www.bravecf.com.
