Aliff Sor Dechapan delivered a masterful performance to defeat Ramadan Ondash via unanimous decision at ONE Fight Night 38 on 6 December, punching his ticket to a ONE Strawweight Muay Thai World Championship bout.
The Malaysian-Thai striker systematically outworked the 19-year-old Lebanese sensation across three rounds, handing the teenage phenom his first promotional loss while showcasing the skills required to compete for gold.
Following the victory, ONE Commentator Mitch Chilson announced during the post-fight interview that ONE Chairman and CEO Chatri Sityodtong confirmed Aliff would face reigning champion Prajanchai PK Saenchai for the ONE Strawweight Muay Thai World Title in his next appearance.
The contest featured exciting exchanges between two emerging talents, with both fighters demonstrating elite striking throughout.
Aliff seized control in the final frame, scoring a significant knockdown that ultimately swayed the judges' scorecards in his favor and pushed his record to 62-9.
The Sor Dechapan representative revealed his mindset after putting Ondash on the canvas.
"When I got the knockdown, I had to be really careful because I knew that Ramadan would get up and he would try to knock me out to get his win. So I played the game very carefully," Aliff said.
Physical attributes played a key role in Aliff's game plan against the young and hungry opponent.
"I believe my height and reach advantage played a crucial role for this fight and I really needed to make use of that," he explained.
Now guaranteed a title opportunity, Aliff immediately turned his attention to the champion awaiting him.
"I am confident that my next fight will be a title shot. You know, they also announced it in the ring, so I'm very confident. Prajanchai, I hope you're ready for me. I am coming for your belt," the contender warned.
The championship clash will pit Aliff against one of ONE Championship's most accomplished titleholders in Prajanchai, who has established himself as the strawweight Muay Thai king.
