Valentina Shevchenko will be making an error, according to Henry Cejudo, if she squares off against Alexa Grasso.
At the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on Saturday, the flyweight champion Shevchenko her championship against Grasso. After prelims on ESPN and early prelims on ESPN+, the main card is broadcast on pay-per-view.
Throughout her seven title defences, Shevchenko has had no trouble standing and trading with any of her previous adversaries, but Cejudo doesn't believe it would be a good idea against Mexican fighter Grasso.
“I will say this: This fight will go the distance. The toughest matchup that Valentina’s going to have is against a girl like Alexa Grasso. Alexa Grasso has power in her hands. If Valentina decides to sit there and go blow-for-blow with Alexa Grasso, Alexa Grasso could potentially put her out,” Cejudo noted on his YouTube channel (h/t MMA Junkie).
Cejudo went on to further add how Valentina Shevchenko can make use of her skills.
“There’s one thing that Alexa Grasso does have that not a lot of people have capitalized (on), is her stance. She’s very, very wide in her stance, and I do believe that if Valentina plays her game right tactically, there’s going to be a lot of leg kicks,” Cejudo added.
Valentina Shevchenko has been confident about her chances against Grasso. While she respects the skill that Grasso brings to the table, Shevchenko noted that she is aware of the weaknesses of the Mexican.
Grasso, on the other hand, noted that she is out to show everyone that she has the best boxing in the UFC Women’s Flyweight division.
