Yushin Okami details why he wanted to fight Aung La N Sang

Yushin Okami is all set to fight Leandro Ataides at ONE: Heavy Hitters on January 14, 2022. The Japanese legend will be making his return to the Middleweight division through the fight. Though he will be facing Ataides, a lot of the fans were expecting to see Okami battle former two-division champion Aung La N Sang.

Okami and Aung La engaged in a to-and-fro battle on social media recently and even agreed to meet each other inside the ONE Championship circle. During his recent interview with ONE Championship, Okami detailed why he wanted to fight Aung La N Sang.

“When I thought about making a comeback to the middleweight division, the only fighter I wanted to fight was Aung La N Sang,” Okami said.

He further went on to add that he has a lot of respect for Burmese Python.

“I knew him before I came to ONE, and I respected him. He was the champion at middleweight and light heavyweight. The content of his fights were great, and I was proud of him as an Asian,” the Japanese legend added.

As the fight against Aung La might not happen immediately, Okami has his focus set on getting a knockout against Ataides at ONE: Heavy Hitters.

“Of course, he’s going to go for the KO, and I’m going to go for the KO, pound out, or submission. I want to finish him inside 15 minutes,” he added.
