Aung La N Sang has revealed that he would like to fight Yushin Okami before a rematch with Reinier De Ridder for the title. Aung La revealed the same during his recent interview with SCMP MMA.
“You know me. I’m down for any scrap, and Yushin Okami called me out after my fight. I think it would be a great fight. He’s somebody that I used to watch and one of the best Asian middleweights, let’s put on a show. I’m always down for it, but it’s really up to ONE Championship and the fans.” The Burmese Python said.
He further went on to note that it would be a great matchup for the fans if it happens.
“I don‘t want to disrespect Okami, he’s not De Ridder, but that kind of build gives me trouble. Especially the longer grapplers, they do give me trouble – even in training. My friend Steve Mowry, he’s 6’8” and has very strong grappling. So it would be a great match-up [with Okami] and it’d be exciting, man. We always put on exciting fights. Yushin Okami always brings it too,” Aung La added.

Despite being interested in the Okami fight, in the long run, Aung La N Sang has his eyes on the ONE Championship World Title itself.
“People don’t remember a boring fight. They want to watch good mixed martial artists, especially now that people are more educated in mixed martial arts. The belt is my goal. But I don’t care if I have to fight for the belt next or two or three fights from now. I just want to prove myself and continue to grow as a mixed martial artist and be a good athlete that the fans want to watch,” he added.
Before concluding, Aung La also noted that if a rematch with Re Didder happens, he will be looking to end it in a knockout. What are your thoughts on the development? Let us know in the comments below.
