The Professional Muay-Thai scene in India is all set to receive yet another big boost as the country will be hosting World Muay-Thai Council (WMC) Sanctioned Muay-Thai events from 2021.
One of the most experienced Indian Muay-Thai fighters and accomplished coach Balkrishna Shetty has been recognized as the official representative and promoter by the sanctioning body for the events in India.
In an exclusive statement, Balkrishna noted that the move will be a boost for the Muay-Thai circuit in India as the fighters will have a platform to grow and showcase their talent. He also added that he will be looking to host events from January 2021 and is hoping to hold events on a monthly basis across the nation.
He also added that he will be looking to bring together everyone that loves the sport and in turn, grow Muay-Thai culture at a grass root level in the country.

WMC is one of the oldest and largest sanctioning bodies for professional Muay-Thai and was set up in 1995 with a Thailand Parliament Resolution and is incorporated by the Royal Thai Government. WMC is currently merged with the International Federation of Muay-Thai Amateur (IFMA) which is working closely with the Sports Authority of Thailand and the International Olympic Committee after Muay-Thai was recognized by the IOC in 2019.
