WMC India Ranking Series 7: Manthan Rane and Vaishnavi Gandhi win main events

The WMC India Ranking Series 7 happened in Calicut on May 29, 2022. The event was hosted by Muay-Thai Calicut and had a string of exciting fights on offer.

The double headliner saw Manthan Rane fighting Thengal Ranjan in the first main event while Vaishnavi Gandhi fought Shabnam in the second main event.

Thengal Ranjan almost produced a huge upset in the first round when he dropped Manthan. The experience of Manthan came into play as he was quick to get back up to avoid the stoppage. Manthan asserted his dominance as the rounds progressed and took home a comfortable decision win and the title.

Vaishnavi and Shabnam produced one of the most exciting fights of the night. Both fighters put forward a technical display that came down to the wire. Hometown favorite Shabnam, who is a multiple-time Wushu champion, had her moments throughout when Vaishnavi was showing no signs of backing up as well. In the end, the judges ruled the fight in favor of Vaishnavi.

Elsewhere, former IFMA medallist Kavya Kirodian took home a dominant win in her match against Monalisa Boro when Muhammad Ajmal and Shivam Chaurasiya produced huge head-kick knockouts.

Isabel Mathews outclassed Riddhi Ghadigaonkar in the opening bout of the card. Hari Krishnan V.P riled up the crowd in attendance with his performance and went home with a stoppage win over Indrajeet Mandol of West Bengal.

Kerala’s Sreejitha M also had a strong outing as she got the better of Sayanika Pushad of West Bengal. The event was streamed live on the LockerRoom India YouTube channel and you can rewatch the action below.
