Boxing legend and presidential bet Manny Pacquiao has appealed to Russian President Vladimir Putin to end the invasion of Ukraine.
“We saw their sacrifice. We saw how many lives were lost. That is why as an international figure, I am calling on Putin to stop the war,” Pacquiao said during his recent interview with Nobel Peace Prize laureate and Rappler CEO Maria Ressa.

He further went on to add that talks should be held to resolve the issue. The Filipino star said that war is not a solution for the disagreement.
“We need to talk about the problem, whatever misunderstanding they have of each other,” he added.
Pacquiao is currently campaigning for the presidency and his campaign formally began back on October 1, 2021. He is affiliated with PDP–Laban, the same party as incumbent Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte.
Russia began an invasion of Ukraine on 24 February 2022. Internationally considered a war of aggression, it is the largest conventional military assault on a European state since World War II.

As per Reuters, more than 20,000 people have died due to the crisis with more than 10 million people displaced from Ukraine. A long list of sanctions has been issued against Russia for their actions as well at a sporting level.
