She beat Valentina twice: Dana White reacts to new UFC P4P rankings for Women

Reigning UFC Flyweight champion Valentina Shevchenko is currently on top of the UFC pound for pound rankings for women. The rankings, however, do not make sense to Dana White at the moment.

Speaking to BT Sport, Dana said that it was surprising to see Amanda Nunes drop to the third spot in the rankings following her loss to Julianna Pena when she already had two wins over Shevchenko.

“Right now, Valentina is the number one pound-for-pound female fighter in the world. I do not know how Amanda drops to number three. That is pretty silly. But she beat Valentina twice and drops to No.3. These rankings don’t make any sense sometimes,” Dana White said.

Shevchenko and Nunes have fought twice in the UFC with Nunes picking up the win on both occasions. However, Shevchenko has been unstoppable since her move to Flyweight. She is now on an eight-fight winning streak and has completely cleaned out the division. Interestingly, Shevchenko holds a win over Julianna Pena as well.

Nunes, on the other hand, was on a 12-fight winning streak prior to her loss against Pena. The Brazilian captured the UFC Bantamweight title and the UFC Featherweight title during this streak and lost the former to Pena at UFC 269.

Rose Namajunas is currently second in the UFC Women’s Pound-for-Pound rankings when Julianna Pena is at fourth and Zhang Weili is at fifth. Jessica Andrade, Holly Holm, Carla Esparza, Marina Rodriguez, and Katlyn Chookagian complete the top ten in the division.
