UFC Fight Night: Whittaker vs.Till Results: Whittaker gets a decision win

The last UFC event from UFC Fight Island went down today as Robert Whittaker and Darren Till headlined UFC Fight Night: Whittaker vs. Till.

Whittaker and Till go the distance

Till and Whittaker started off the main event on a cautious note with Till making all the aggression early on in the first round. Whittaker, however, dropped Till midway through the second round and had a spell of dominance on the ground.

Although the pace settled down a bit in the third round, it had its fair share of action with both fighters making calculated moves to outclass the other. The fourth and fifth round had a similar story apart from a huge takedown from Whittaker in the fifth as both Whittaker and Till were respecting the knockout power that each other had. In the end, judges ruled in favour of Whittaker via a unanimous decision.

Mauricio Rua made it 3-0 against Antonio Rogerio Nogueira with a decision victory in the co-main event. After the fight, Nogueira noted that it could be his last fight possibly putting an end to a career that spanned two decades.

Werdum submits Gustafsson

Fabricio Werdum produced yet another submission win and this time around, it was at the expense of Alexander Gustafsson who was making his Heavyweight entry. Werdum displayed his superior grappling skills and ended the fight via an arm bar in the first round itself.

Carla Esparza went home with a hard-earned split decision win against Marina Rodriguez and improved her winning streak to four-fights. Paul Craig, meanwhile, made quick work of Gadzhimurad Antigulov with a triangle submission finish in the first round. Alex Oliveira was also on the winning column in the main card.

Khamzat Chimaev continues his dominance

Khamzat Chimaev made it 2-0 in his UFC career and 8-0 in his professional career after a dominant win over Rhy Mckee. Khamzat secured the stoppage win in the first round itself via strikes and maintained his record of finishing all his fights till now. As for McKee, the defeat snapped his three-fight winning streak.

Elsewhere, Francisco Trinaldo secured a third-round stoppage against Jai Herbert in the prelims while the likes of Jesse Ronson, Tom Aspinall, Movsar Evloev, Tanner Boser, Pannie Kianzad, Ramazan Emeev and Nathaniel Wood also got wins.
