UFC has announced the new fight card for UFC 249 which is currently scheduled to take place on May 9, 2020. The event will be held at the VyStar Arena in Jacksonville, Fla. and will be headlined by the showdown between Tony Ferguson and Justin Gaethje.
Dana White noted that the promotion is planning to hold back-to-back events soon.
“I can’t wait to deliver some great fights for the fans. I want to give a big thanks to Mayor [Lenny] Curry, VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena and Florida State Boxing Commission Executive Director Patrick Cunningham for getting this thing done and giving us a venue to put on these incredible cards, as well our media partners including ESPN and ESPN+, for bringing it to fans. My team is ready to go and the fighters are excited to get back in there with these back-to-back events,” he noted.
The fight card will be co-headlined by the showdown between Henry Cejudo and Dominick Cruz, who is returning from injury after a long layoff.
Francis Ngannou and Jairzinho Rozenstruik have also found a place in the main card alongside the likes of Jeremy Stephens, Calvin Kattar, Greg Hardy and Yorgan De Castro.
