Jorge Masvidal was crowned the BMF Champion at UFC 244 today after he managed to secure a TKO win over Nate Diaz following a doctor’s stoppage after the third round.

Masvidal managed to cut Nate Diaz really bad in the first round itself and delivered a dominant performance all the way to the third round. Although, Nate was able to land a few significant strikes and managed to grab the leg of Masvidal at one point, it was Masvidal that dictated the pace.

After the end of the third round, the doctor came in and checked on Nate and decided that the cut above Nate’s eyes was too much to let the fight continue. This subsequently resulted in a TKO win for Masvidal who got the BMF title around his waist.

In the co-main event of the night, Darren Till showcased a great tactical performance to outclass Kelvin Gastelum. Till went home with a split decision win in his Middleweight Debut and could be close to getting a title shot against Israel Adesanya.

The Heavyweight fight between Derrick Lewis and Blagoy Ivanov went to the distance much to the surprise of many fans. Lewis edged out Ivanov with a split decision to get the win.

Elsewhere, Stephen Thompson and Vicente Luque gave the fans a treat and put on a striking masterpiece. Luque, who showed some great toughness throughout the fight, was outclassed by a determined Thompson who was landing with accuracy and volume. In the end, it was Thompson that went home with a unanimous decision victory.

The highlight reel finish of the main card came courtesy of Kevin Lee who knocked out Gregor Gillespie via a head kick in the first round. Gillespie was heavily favoured when he came into the fight, but Lee shocked the world by landing a vicious kick that is worth remembering for a long time.
