Stamp Fairtex gets a win over Alyona Rassohyna at ONE: Empower

One of the most awaited showdowns in the ONE Atomweight Grand Prix, Alyona Rassohyna vs. Stamp Fairtex happened today at ONE: Empower.

Alyona had the upper hand early in the first round with her grappling skills and had Stamp pinned down. Stamp turned the table and took the back of Alyona with just a minute to go in the round. Though Stamp went for a rear-naked choke, Alyona survived the round. A takedown from Alyona kicked off the action in the second round. Stamp was looking more comfortable in the round once things got back to standing. 

Stamp landed on half-guard early in the third round and soon took back control. Alyona, however, turned things in her favor with an arm-bar attempt but Stamp showed great resilience to get back on the top position and escape the submission attempt. Stamp then comfortably sailed through to the end of the match and took home a decision victory to advance into the semi-finals of the ONE Atomweight Grand Prix. 

Hailing from Ukraine, Alyona came into the fight with a professional MMA record of 13-4 to her name. She started her professional MMA journey back in 2010 and has fought in a string of promotions before debuting in ONE Championship against Stamp Fairtex in February 2021. Alyona won the fight via third-round submission in the match but there were a lot of controversies that stemmed from the win which were expected to be put to rest in the rematch.

Stamp Fairtex, meanwhile, was 5-1 ahead of the fight with her only loss coming against Alyona back in February 2021. A Muay-Thai standout, Stamp made her MMA debut back in 2018 against Rashi Shinde and had won the match with a head kick KO. She then secured wins over Asha Roka, Bi Nguyen, Puja Tomar, and Sunisa Srisan before fighting Alyona.

ONE: Empower, the all-women fight card from ONE: Championship was held in Singapore and was headlined by the ONE Strawweight World Title fight between Xiong Jing Nan and Michelle Nicolini. The card also featured the quarter-final matchups for the ONE Atomweight Grand Prix, the winner of which will receive a shot against ONE Atomweight Champion Angela Lee.
