Sonia Lather has her eyes set on the Olympics. Although the Haryana based boxer has not qualified for the games yet, she is keeping her hopes high and working hard during the lockdown.
Currently residing in her hometown of Jind in Haryana, she is also not bothered by the lack of gym and equipment and is making use of the opportunities that she has at her hand.
“I am working really hard for my goal - representing my country at the Olympics. And that's what motivates me during the lockdown,” she said in her recent interview with TOI.
In the interview, Sonia also noted that she is following directions and instructions given by Boxing Federation of India (BFI) through the online classes. BFI has been conducting a string of many online classes during the lockdown period in an attempt to keep the athletes busy.
While concluding her interview, the former Asian Championship Silver Medallist urged everyone in India to stay at home and stay safe during the global pandemic.
As for the Olympics, 9 Indian boxers have already booked their places for the Games and the number is expected to increase if everything goes well in the coming months.
